Day 1

After arrival at Nosy Be airport you will be met and transferred to your resort on the north of Nosy Komba. Accommodation will be 293 on Komba or Ilo Village Bungalows. Sundowners and dinner are served on the large terrace (293) or in the restaurant attached to Ilo Village bungalows.

Day 2

After breakfast paddle a short distance (3km) to the nearby Verona Private Island. This tiny island has the only working lighthouse in the area. The old lighthouse keepers house has been converted into accommodating and an extra bungalow built on top of the hill near the lighthouse.

Once settled you will begin your excursion, with the support boat, to Tanikely Marine Reserve. Pack a small bag or beach basket with beach towels, sunscreen and snorkelling gear, camera and everything you need for a day snorkelling, soaking up the sun and a beach picnic lunch on this pristine little island.

Day 3

After breakfast paddle across to the Hermitage Beach Hotel, a distance of about 13 km. Set on grassy lawns this colonial era resort is positioned on a lovely isolated beach on Mainland Madagascar.

The resort is boarded by the sea on one side and plantations mainly cashew nuts on the other. If you feeling energetic you can walk to a small village, which has a small restaurant owned by a Frenchman.

Day 4

After breakfast you paddle to the south side of Komba Island where we arrive on a beach for refreshments. Head on to Berenice Bungalows, approximate distance is 15km. This lodge is set on a little private beach in amongst wonderful gardens. There is some great snorkelling directly in front of the lodge.

Day 5

After an early breakfast we paddle 5 km across the channel back onto the mainland and arrive at Ankify Lodge.

Beautiful views from this point and the only sea route linking Nosy Be to the mainland runs in front of the resort and lands a little way lower down at Ankify port. Next you will be transferred to Millot Plantation. A guide will escort you through the plantation and show you cocoa trees and the different types of pods, how they are processed and dried ready for export. The guide will also show you ylang ylang and other spice trees as well as the essential oil extraction procedure. Next we visit the charming town of Ambanja. A sundowner on the terrace of the old main building followed by a tasty dinner is a perfect way to end a lovely day.

Day 6

After breakfast we head off on our last day of paddling. We cross the channel again towards the west side of Nosy Komba where we take a break on a beach, have a swim, chill, then continue our way back to the north side of Komba and land back at either 293 or Ilo Bungalows.

Todays lunch is at one of the beach bars in the village. There is plenty atmosphere in this little village. There is a small park if you wish to see the lemurs in the wild. Your guide calls them and they come jumping down the trees onto your shoulder. There are also plenty of stalls selling handmade and other curios along with wooden carvings made on site. Dinner will be at the lodge.

Day 7

After a lazy start and a swim if you feeling up to it. Breakfast is served and the choice of the day is up to you. Either spend the morning buying the last few curios you forgot the day before, chill, snorkel on Komba or head into Hell-Ville on Nosy Be and visit the market or some other curio shops or to buy some Madagascar chocolate and rum – highly recommended.

After a nice lunch at a Pappilon restaurant in Hell-Ville a taxi will take you to either Loharano Hotel or up to Chez Lou-Lou on Andilana beach on the north of Nosy Be. Just before midday your taxi will collect you to take you to the airport for your direct flight back to Johannesburg.
